The Chicago-born entertainer hails from an ethnically diverse family where her equally talented parents encouraged her to hone her craft at the ripe age of five after discovering her natural born affinity for writing. Years later, at the age of 13, she began to record the lyrics she had been writing for so long. J-Lyn further embraced her musical talents, enrolling in professional vocal and piano lessons shortly after.
Throughout her musical journey, J-Lyn has auditioned for and been offered roles in a variety of television shows and modeling productions. These opportunities have opened many doors for her to meet and network with a countless established musicians who have helped her to cultivate her own style. Although quite unique, J-Lyn has been compared to the likes of Monica, Missy Elliot, Salt-N-Pepa and Xscape.
For years, J-Lyn has blessed many audiences across the nation with her presence. She has performed in noteworthy venues such as the House of Blues, Charter One Pavilion, Star Plaza Theater, Congress Theater, South Shore Cultural Center and The Black Women’s Expo. Other venues and events include the Shadow Bar, Keeping Kids Off the Streets, the Premiere Entertainment Center and at 3G’s Management events. She has also shared the stage with a variety of artists including Jaheim, Anthony Hamilton, Avant, Scarface, Raheem Devaughn, Day 26, Crucial Conflict, Dwele, and Kem.
With recent interviews by major radio stations in Chicago, such as KISS 103.5FM, Power 92.3FM, WVON 1690AM & radio spins by WGCI 107.5FM, J-Lyn is well-known throughout the Chicago land area. J-Lyn has been featured in Chicago’s Red Eye newspaper, Ozone and Source magazines, along with various online magazines. With the recent signing of J-Lyn's House Music Mix single "Take Control" on Ron Carroll's Electricity label, her fanbase overseas has grown tremendously.
Now wiser, this solo artist is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Head Turna Entertainment Inc., an arts and entertainment company specializing in artist showcases, parties and private events geared toward inner city youth and aspiring artists. Currently, she also serves as host on Chicago’s popular “Ninja Show” on CAN-TV.
J-Lyn has recorded two albums, “J-Lyn” and “Long Overdue”, with plans to release a new album soon.
